Experienced,
Bilingual
Therapist

The Island Therapy Collective employs qualified, experienced, fully-registered Speech and Language Therapists with Allied Health Professions Council.
Our therapist is bilingual in English and Mandarin and is able to conduct assessments and training in either language.
Our experienced Speech and Language Therapist uses a variety of techniques to help individuals improve their communication abilities and develop the skills they need to participate in everyday activities.

Reading/Writing, Stuttering, Voice, Speech & Language Therapy

The Island Therapy Collective offers assessments to identify potential difficulties in reading/writing, speech, language, fluency (e.g. stuttering), voice and/or social communication.
After the assessment has been completed, the Speech Language Therapist will review the results with you and provide recommendations. She will also inform you if further evaluation is necessary.

Home-based Intervention

Home-based Speech Therapy involves the therapist travelling to your home and completing the therapy session in your or your child’s most familiar environment.
We are passionate about empowering parents and caregivers, which makes it easier for the child to continue practising the skills acquired between sessions. Research supports home-based intervention as an effective method for bringing about growth and positive change.
We also believe in individualising a bespoke goal-centred treatment plan for each of our clients. Goals will be determined according to each student's needs as identified during the assessments. These individualised goals will be reviewed on a regular basis.

School-based
Intervention

Our team provides Speech and Language Therapy sessions in a variety of schools and special educational settings, offering therapy to individual students, group sessions and training/support to staff. School-based Speech Therapy sessions allow therapists to better understand any barriers to learning and communication that the student may be experiencing.
The important element of school based therapy is the direct liaison with the student's teachers and classroom support staff to support the student in their learning and communication.

Targeted Screenings & Assessment

The initial consultation session begins with case history taking, followed by standardised and/or informal assessments.
Assessments are tailored to the child's specific needs. This allows the therapist to understand more about the child's skills and difficulties and to plan an appropriate intervention programme.
Assessments may be conducted in English and/or Mandarin.
